The medical term for “Acid Reflux” is GERD. (Gastro Esophageal Reflux Disease) defined as the product of abnormal reflux of gastric content, it creates a mucosal damage in the body when stomach acid frequently flows back into the tube connecting your mouth and stomach (esophagus). This backwash can irritate the lining of your esophagus.

More common terms for acid reflux are heart burn and acid indigestion

This condition affects both young and old, while it is more common in adults and some pregnant women; acid reflux can also affects young people and infants

CAUSE

Heart burn can be cause by eating certain food or going to bed immediately after eating very heavy meal. Almost everyone has acid reflux at some point in lives but if it is triggered more than twice a week over a lengthy period of time, then on must seek professional medical advice

GERD is usually caused by increase in gastric acid production in the body. The most major symptom of GERD are burning sensation in your chest (heartburn), usually after eating, which might be worse if one eats at night just before going to sleep. Chest pain, difficulty swallowing, regurgitation of food or sour liquid and Sensation of a lump in your throat.

Other symptoms can include, burning uneasiness at the back of the sternum, constant ear ache, or sinusitis, chronic cough (especially at night), laryngitis, asthma and lack of proper sleep. The complications brought upon by acid reflux may lead to esophageal ulcers or worse esophageal cancer.

TREATMENT

The most effective treatment for Acid reflux is a balanced and healthy diet (at least 80% plant based). A healthy eating habit where last meal of the day is eaten 2 -4 hours before sleep. Maintaining a healthy colon or cleansing the colon 3 – 4 times per year. Regular exercise. Rest and meditation.

A hot tea of lime, honey and mint leave has relieved the symptoms for most cases that i have dealt with. (Make hot tea with mint leave, lime and honey. This must be drunk hot. to stop the hot tea from burning you mouth, put 2 drops of essential mint oil on your, fingers. Spread the 2 drops of oil on your fingers and rob the fingers on your lips, tongue and mouth. Swallow the saliva in your mouth to coat you throat and enjoy the tea. Most are relieved before they finish the first cup
